The documentary film, The Son, investigates the disappearance of 19-year-old Azerbaijani prisoner of war Natig Gasimov during the 1992 Nagorno-Karabakh war. The film uses unpublished photos taken by Italian war photographer Enrico Sarsini, who was present at Gasimov's interrogation by Armenian officers and soldiers. Despite Sarsini's departure, Gasimov was never heard from again. The 46-minute documentary uncovers new evidence, including the presence of retired Armenian Lt. General Vitaly Balasanyan at Gasimov's interrogation, and travels to Armenia, Azerbaijan, Italy, and Russia to find the truth.
