The Symbol of the Unconquered background

The Symbol of the Unconquered

When a landowner stands firm against a group of racists seeking to exploit his property's oil reserve, his life is put at risk.

Eve Mason, a light-skinned African American, moves to Oristown, Alabama to inherit land from her grandfather. She meets her neighbor, kind Hugh Van Allen, who helps her settle in. However, tensions arise when Jefferson Driscoll, another light-skinned African American, becomes jealous of Van Allen's land discovery and joins forces with a group of outlaws to threaten Van Allen's life. The group, led by Bill Stanton, plans a midnight attack, but Van Allen's wife, Mary, warns Eve, who rides to town for help, just as Van Allen returns unaware of the impending attack.
