The Vigilante, a government undercover agent, leads a double life as Western movie star Greg Sanders. His assistant Stuff is the only one aware of his dual identity. Greg and Stuff are sent to the ranch of wealthy George Pierce, where they meet other guests including a mysterious potentate, a rodeo queen, and a rancher. The potentate announces he is gifting white horses to Pierce, Greg, and three others, causing tension among the group. Later, Pierce argues with his aide, knocks him unconscious, and sets a fire, leaving him trapped in the barn.
