An American pilot, Christopher Reynolds, is shot down over German-occupied Holland and finds refuge with a Dutch family. He poses as the husband of Anita Wolverman, convincing a German officer to grant her a divorce. Anita then helps Reynolds gather military information from the officer, while her former husband, thought to be insane, escapes and frames Reynolds. With the help of the old ladies and Anita, who pretends to remarry him, Reynolds makes his escape to England in a stolen German plane.
