A German hermit, Herman Umgar, possesses the unique ability to communicate with worms. After being forced off his property by the town mayor, Herman seeks revenge by secretly inserting mutant worms from the Red Tide into the food of the townspeople. As a result, those who consume the worms undergo a terrifying transformation, growing into giant worms themselves. Herman, now wielding an army of worm-slaves, must face the consequences of his actions and confront the chaos that ensues.
