The Weaver Brothers and Elviry start anew, leaving behind their Ozark home to pursue a truck-farming business on a peaceful rural farm on the outskirts of the city.

The Weaver Brothers and Elviry, a family from the Ozarks, leave their rural home to start a truck farm in Pasadena, California. They befriend migrant youths, including a tough young man named Sock, and employ them on their farm. The story follows the Weavers' relationships with the migrant boys, as well as romantic interests between Sock and Pansy, and a probation officer and the daughter of a wealthy landowner. The film culminates with the migrant boys winning first prize in Pasadena's annual "Tournament of Roses Parade" with a float they designed and built using flowers from the Weavers' gardens.
