In this contemporary story, a young Australian boxer named Anthony is pushed to his limits by his Sicilian father-trainer, Joe. When Anthony meets Kate, he begins to question his violent lifestyle and loses focus on boxing. After a confrontation with his father, Anthony learns about Joe's painful past and decides to leave the ring. He earns a living as a nightclub bouncer and starts a romance with Kate. However, when Anthony gets involved in a street fight, Kate dumps him and he reflects on his life and losses. With the help of Kate's brother, a comedian, Anthony gains a new perspective and decides to honor his father and family by re-entering the ring to fight his nemesis, Nico.
