In a cluttered New York City apartment, a young man named John O'Hara finds himself suffocating under a mountain of newspapers and TV news coverage of the State-of-the-Union address.

In this movie, a young man named John is struggling to find a job in New York City. Feeling down, he decides to go out and ends up at a bar where he meets a beautiful woman named Sofia. She mistakes him for a trust-fund brat and tries to pick him up, but John is intrigued by her boldness. They spend the day together, getting to know each other and sharing a joint. As the day wears on, Sofia opens up to John about a traumatic experience from her past, revealing a dark and violent incident that left her scarred. Despite his initial discomfort, John finds himself drawn to Sofia's vulnerability and they share a moment of intimacy.
