Henry Pecket, a charming boarder, owns a homemade sloop in the backyard of his boarding house, where he takes his young friend Nella Cairn on fantastical "trips" around the world. When Nella's brother Jeff goes missing in action, Pecket and his new love interest Jenny decide to take care of her and concoct a plan to find Jeff on a mystical island. However, their scheme is threatened when the boarding house owner sells the sloop to a man who wants to turn it into a hamburger stand. With the help of a young dentist, Howard Williams, they set sail on an enchanted voyage to find Jeff, encountering a scientist in need of dental work along the way.
