When Soldiers Cry background

When Soldiers Cry

In 1965 South Vietnam, two American soldiers cling to the hope of reuniting with their loved ones, fueled by the unshakable vows they made to their families to return home at all costs.

Two American soldiers are trapped in the 1965 South Vietnam jungle, surrounded by war. Their only hope for survival is the promise they made to their families to return home at any cost. One soldier, Private David M. Church, wakes up to find his entire squad killed by the Vietcong. He must travel three days on foot to reach the extraction landing zone. Along the way, he encounters an injured VC and kills him, only to discover that the man is actually an American tunnel rat. Mentally broken, Church carries the tunnel rat to the LZ, saving other American soldiers in dire need of help. However, the VC and his own comrades claim that anyone who tries to leave the jungle will die, and Church is forced to make a choice: save himself or save others, knowing he won't survive the jungle.
