"Where Adam Stood" is a drama based on a section of Edmund Gosse's autobiography, "Father and Son". The story takes place on the Devon coast and revolves around Philip Gosse, a Christian fundamentalist who opposes Charles Darwin's theories. Philip believes in the Old Testament and sees his ailing son Edmund's illness as God's punishment. He even suggests that Edmund's desire for a toy ship is the cause of his illness. Meanwhile, Edmund faces a threatening situation when a mad woman, Mary Teague, tries to attack him in the forest.
