In 1878, the Nicholson family's mulatto butler, Whity, navigates the complex dynamics of a dysfunctional family in the American south-west. With a young and attractive wife, Katherine, and two sons from a previous marriage, including a homosexual and a disabled child, Whity is tasked with carrying out the family's demands, no matter how humiliating. As tensions rise, Whity is eventually asked to take drastic measures to eliminate certain family members.
