As winter approaches, birds fly south to escape the cold. A duck couple anxiously awaits the hatching of their egg, but when it refuses to open, the father takes matters into his own hands, lighting a match to crack it open. The resulting junior duck is seen hopping around with a burnt toe before the family joins their fellow birds in crossing the Mason-Dixon Line, where they're greeted by a warm welcome and a Southern gentleman's grumble about "those consarned Yankees."
