Two aspiring novelists, Zach and Avery Treus, are struggling to make a living while pursuing their dreams. As Avery's ambition starts to wane, Zach remains determined to succeed. Their relationship is put to the test when two new people enter their lives, one of whom inspires Avery's confidence and the other who introduces Zach to a new world and way of life.
