Childhood friends Kafka and Mina, both scarred by childhood encounters with kaiju, join the Japanese Defense Force to safeguard their hometown. Kafka, infected with a unique entity, develops the ability to transform into Kaiju No. 8, and secretly fights alongside Mina, concealing his powers within the Defense Force.
