The series spans different eras in France, blending humor with drama. It follows the Plancher family's adventures at their Parisian inn, where Napoleon Bonaparte's cousin Renata is the wife, as well as the misadventures of the Roche Saint-Pierre family in 1695, who are exiled from Versailles and attempt various schemes to return to the king's court. Additionally, the series explores the plight of François d'Arc, Jeanne d'Arc's cousin, who tries to rescue her from the Burgundian forces in 1430.
