Manatsu Natsuumi, a first-year middle school student, starts a new life on the mainland after moving from Minamino Island to visit her mother. She joins her new school and meets Laura, a mermaid who's on a quest to find legendary warriors to battle the Witch of Delays, who has drained the motivation power from her nation. When a minion of the witch attacks Aozora City, Manatsu gains sea powers and transforms into Cure Summer, one of the legendary warriors.
