The movie follows the events of the Greek-Italian War, starting with the torpedoing of the destroyer Elli by an Italian submarine. As the Greeks declare war, they face an Italian attack on the Albanian front. A Greek military truck is ambushed by Italian tanks, but Petros manages to escape and saves a village girl, Maria. The Greeks then recapture a machine-gun nest, freeing pinned-down soldiers. The Greek army prepares for a counter-attack, which forces the Italians to retreat and ultimately recaptures Northern Epirus and repels the Italian army from the Adriatic.
