Achootty, a fisherman, wants his daughter Radha to become a doctor, but she elopes with her childhood friend and gets married. Achootty initially disapproves of his son-in-law, but the young man proves himself to be a capable fisherman, earning Achootty's silent admiration. When the son-in-law goes missing, Achootty is accused of killing him, but he finds the man unconscious on the wreckage of his boat and rescues him.
