A young 4th grade teacher, Jane Richards, faces a challenge with 11-year-old C.T. Young, a stubborn rebel and liar who's struggling to connect with others. When C.T.'s younger sister Tanya dies, he becomes withdrawn and gets into trouble at school. However, when a swarm of bees invades the classroom, C.T. surprises everyone by taking charge and capturing the queen bee, earning praise from the principal. Despite his difficulties, C.T. finds a new sense of purpose when a butterfly emerges from a cocoon he's been watching, and he presents it to Jane, who helps him share the miracle with his classmates.
