Luigi and Lafayette, two immigrants, work at Andreas Flaxman's wax museum in Lower Manhattan. Luigi, an artist, and Lafayette, a jack-of-all-trades, are entangled in Flaxman's obsession with Ancient Rome. Meanwhile, Lafayette lives in a rat-infested basement and works as a stagehand for a feminist theater group, where he faces sexist abuse.
