A defiant young soldier discovers the value of friendship while facing a dangerous enemy. He lands in an army stockade with a group of black soldiers who initially distrust him, but eventually come to respect and accept him. However, their tough and bigoted commander is opposed to their alliance and the soldiers must stand together against him.
