Masha Yablochkina, a resilient Leningrad schoolgirl, joins the railway courses in 1941-1942 to survive and gain strength. She is then sent to build the Shlisselburg Highway, a crucial connection between the city and the Great Land, despite being in the direct line of German artillery fire. Masha joins the 48th locomotive column of the NKPS special reserve, where she faces extreme danger to deliver 75% of all cargo and military equipment to Leningrad.
