In the 1950s, a group of juvenile delinquents, including 13-year-old Dino Minetta, rob a warehouse, but things take a turn when they're caught by the night-watchman, leading to tragic consequences. After serving a 3-1/2-year sentence, Dino is released on parole and is taken in by state-appointed parole officer Frank Mandel, who recognizes Dino's potential and tries to save him from a life of crime.
