Archie Grey Owl, a trapper in 1930s Canada, is transformed by a young Iroquois woman who teaches him to adopt a new way of life. Together, they care for orphaned beaver kits, and Archie eventually gives up trapping to become a naturalist writer and guide. He's hired by the Canadian government to conserve the beaver population in Prince Albert National Park.
