In the Arizona Territory, a series of stagecoach robberies culminates in a holdup on a stagecoach carrying undercover agent Mike Ryan and Sheriff Tom Jones' daughter Molly. The gang-leader, Velvet Clark, kills one of his accomplices and later assumes a respectable identity as a piano-playing townsman. As the townspeople demand the sheriff's resignation, he takes on Ryan as a deputy and they uncover evidence linking Clark to the crimes. However, Clark murders the sheriff and escapes, leading Ryan to a final showdown at Gunsight Ridge.
