South of St. Louis background

South of St. Louis

A tight-knit group of Texas ranchers live in harmony, but their tranquility is disrupted by a group of Union deserters and outlaws, led by the merciless Cotrell, who bring chaos and devastation to their land.

During the American Civil War, a group of settlers in Missouri are driven from their land by a guerrilla leader named Luke Cottrell. The main characters, Kip, Charlie, and Lee, join forces to rebuild their ranch in Texas, a neutral territory. However, they become involved in smuggling arms for the Confederacy, leading to conflicts with Cottrell, who is also smuggling guns. After the war, the friends go their separate ways, with Kip moving to Mexico, Charlie opening a saloon in Brownsville, and Lee joining the Texas Rangers. When Charlie and Lee have a falling out, Kip returns to help Lee in a final showdown.
