In 1882, the James gang, led by Jesse James, robs a telegraph express office in Muncie, Indiana, and escapes with the loot. However, one of the gang members, Victor 'Vic' Rodell, is wounded and taken to Bob Ford's home in Missouri to recover. Meanwhile, Sheriff Steve Oliver and Pinkerton Agent Clyde O'Connell team up to track down the James gang.
