Joe Palooka and his new wife, Anne Howe, arrive at Harrow Hot Springs for their honeymoon, only to be joined by Humphrey Pennyworth, a small-town blacksmith who's ensured their car's repair. As they settle in, Joe is challenged to a benefit bout, but his opponent is replaced by Humphrey, who proves to be a formidable fighter. Joe's manager, Knobby Walsh, sees an opportunity and takes over Humphrey's management, posing as Lord Cecil Poole, an English fight manager. However, this sets off a chain of events as Humphrey's incredible strength becomes a threat to Joe's career.
