An ex-vaudeville performer becomes an unlikely assistant to a mad scientist who reanimates corpses. Together, they revive a young woman's corpse using a special serum. The scientist plans to transplant his beating heart into a new corpse, but his assistant has other plans. After killing the scientist, the assistant disguises himself as his former boss, but soon finds himself impersonating the mad doctor too well and descending into madness.
