Marnie Edgar, a habitual liar and thief, takes on secretarial jobs only to steal from her employers. After landing a job at Rutland's, she catches the eye of the owner, Mark Rutland. Instead of letting her flee with the loot, he forces her to marry him. Their honeymoon is disastrous, and she's repulsed by physical touch.
