In the small town of Bridgeville, Delaware, Mary, a young mother of three, runs a popular bakery and is married to the sheriff. When one of her daughters enters her name in the mayoral election as a school project, Mary initially thinks it's a joke. However, things take a surprising turn when the incumbent mayor, who had won with 84% of the vote, dies after eating one of Mary's cupcakes.
