A Hollywood director, feeling disillusioned with his life, flees to the Mojave Desert to escape his impending divorce and custody battle. However, his solitude is disrupted by a sociopathic drifter, leading to a deadly game of cat and mouse. The drifter, now aware of the director's identity, uses psychological manipulation to torment him, threatening his loved ones and friends. As the stakes escalate, a third party is accidentally killed, and each man tries to frame the other. The standoff ends with a poetic conclusion, where only one man will survive.
