Sterling Brown is an Emmy Award-winning actor, known for his role as Randall Pearson in the NBC drama series This Is Us (2016). He has received numerous accolades for his performance, including an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, a Golden Globe, and a SAG Award, making him the first African-American actor to win in his category in the award show's 75-year history.
Born in St. Louis, Missouri, to Aralean Banks and Sterling Brown, he tragically lost his father at the age of ten due to a heart attack. Brown graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Drama from Stanford University and later received his Master's Degree in Fine Arts from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. He currently resides in Los Angeles with his wife and two sons.
In addition to his work on This Is Us, Brown has appeared in a variety of films and television shows, including Marvel's Black Panther (2018),The Predator (2018),Hotel Artemis (2018),Marshall (2017),Whiskey Tango Foxtrot (2016),and Army Wives (2007). He has also performed in several stage productions, including Father Comes Home from the Wars (Parts 1, 2, & 3),for which he won an NAACP Theatre Award and was nominated for an Ovation Award.
