A suave detective navigates a murder mystery at a glamorous music performance, balancing his professional and personal lives while ensuring the show goes on.

At the final performance of "Earl Carroll's Vanities," the leading lady Ann Ware is targeted before the curtain rises, and the stage manager Jack Ellery enlists the help of his friend, policeman Bill Murdock, to investigate. As they search for clues, they discover a murdered woman's body and suspect the leading man Eric Lander, who was seen with the second female lead Rita Ross, whose suspicious alibi raises more questions.
