In the 1970s, Sadik, a young and rebellious journalist, defies his family's expectations to pursue a left-wing career. When a military coup hits Turkey on September 12, 1980, Sadik's life takes a devastating turn. His wife dies giving birth to their child, Deniz, and he is subjected to years of torture, trials, and imprisonment. After his release, Sadik returns to his village with 7-8 year old Deniz, knowing it will be a challenge to reconcile with his father.
