Puckoon background

Puckoon

A quirky Irish village is torn apart by a bizarre border dispute in this satirical film, adapted from Spike Milligan's absurd novel.

In the small Irish village of Puckoon, a hasty decision is made to divide the community along the border of Northern Ireland, resulting in a literal split between the two territories. As a result, villagers face absurd challenges, including navigating barbed wire fences and Army checkpoints to reach their outhouses or cross the street. The situation takes a darkly comedic turn as the village's deceased residents must now obtain a valid passport to be buried in the "wrong" territory, prompting a plan to smuggle them back to Ireland. Meanwhile, a group of mischievous individuals hatch a scheme to smuggle explosives into Northern Ireland via coffins, leading to chaotic and humorous consequences.
