Ed Randall is forced to leave the Navy due to an emergency at his aunt's ranch. Upon his return, he discovers that the water has been shut off and his aunt has left a note stating she'll be gone by the next day. When the lawyer he consults with is murdered, Ed is wrongly accused and finds himself in jail, with a lynch mob gathering outside.
