Saskatchewan background

Saskatchewan

A tenacious police inspector defies his incompetent boss in 1877 Western Canada, opting for a safer route to the US border to safeguard against Native American threats.

Two brothers, O'Rourke and Cajou, encounter a burned wagon train and its sole survivor, Grace, on their way back from a trapping trip in northern Canada. As they try to make sense of the situation, they must navigate a complex web of alliances and rivalries between the Cree and Sioux tribes, as well as the arrival of the 7th Cavalry. Meanwhile, a Mountie commander is convinced that the Cree are behind the attack, and O'Rourke must take a stand to protect his men and aid Grace, who is being pursued by a marshal with both personal and official motives.
