Two American soldiers are forced to parachute into a small German town during World War II. They are taken in by Herr Frick, a patriotic and lonely man who keeps them as prisoners of war in his bomb shelter. As the days pass, the soldiers grow restless, while Herr Frick struggles with the decision of whether to reveal the war's end and potentially lose their companionship.

Two World War II airmen, left to pick up the pieces after a brutal air battle, find themselves at the mercy of a German air-raid warden, imprisoned in his basement where time stands still long after the war's end.
