After repairing a World War II bomber, the castaways attempt to fly to Hawaii, but Gilligan falls out and must parachute down to the island. They decide to return to the island to retrieve him, narrowly avoiding disaster when the plane's engine collapses upon landing. A U.S. Navy captain arrives, having tracked the plane's radar signal, and the castaways soon find themselves working as staff at a newly developed tropical resort on the island.
