In 1926, during the Chinese Civil War, a drifter named Ted Beaubien is captured, forced to witness his girlfriend's execution, and then escapes to avenge her death. He plans to buy guns abroad and smuggle them back, but first, he must help his penniless family, including his elderly mother and younger brother George.
