Abner Torres, a young Mexican boy, dreams of escaping poverty and violence through professional boxing. Despite his abusive father's exploitation, Abner finds support from his sister Silvana, best friend Wilo, and girlfriend Paulina. Dr. Frank Irwin, a local physician, also mentors Abner, while his son Jimmy, a former boxer, trains Abner at the gym. As Abner's prospects improve, tragedy strikes, threatening to destroy his chance at a better life.
