Two lighthouse keepers, stranded at sea for months, succumb to despair as isolation and inner darkness overwhelm them.
The film 'The Lighthouse' is based on the true events of the Smalls Island Incident in 1801, where two men, Thomas Howell and Thomas Griffith, were stranded in a lighthouse 25 miles from land, surrounded by the treacherous Irish sea.
