The Union

The film tells the story of the creative process behind the collaborative album "The Union" between Elton John and Leon Russell, produced by renowned producer T-Bone Burnett.

Elton John and Leon Russell team up to create a joint album in 2009, after a decade-long hiatus. The recording process is captured on camera, showing Russell's struggles to compose and perform after recovering from brain surgery. Special guests Neil Young, Brian Wilson, and Booker T. Jones join in for a few days of recording, with T Bone Burnett producing. The documentary features archival footage of Russell's early career, interviews with Crowe, and a sound montage of his work as a studio musician. The album "The Union" is released in October 2010, followed by a concert in Boston, rekindling their friendship.
