A U.S. Army supply column is attacked by Mexican bandits in Arizona, near Fort Apache, resulting in the deaths of all soldiers, the kidnapping of Dr. Adams' daughter, and the theft of ammunition wagons. In response, President Grant sends Captain Chadwell, Lieutenant Junger, and Sergeant Smith to Fort Apache to put an end to the raids.
