The Ballon household is filled with secrets and scandals. Affair-ridden relationships abound, including Monsieur Ballon and Maria, Maria and Miguel, Henri and Dudo, Madame Ballon and Henri, and Pierre and Simone. As the story unfolds, a series of murders takes place. Madame Ballon accidentally shoots Miguel, suspecting her husband of an affair. Madame LaFarge kills Georges after he threatens to end their relationship. Simone eliminates Dudo to clear the way for her own affair with Pierre. Monsieur Ballon kills Henri for his infidelity, while Maurice blackmails Madame Ballon and Georges blackmails Monsieur Ballon.
