André, a small-time ex-convict, is desperate to repay his debts to a crime boss who threatens to kill him if he doesn't pay up by midnight. Desperate and feeling hopeless, André jumps off a bridge into the Seine River. However, he is surprised to find a beautiful girl, Angel-A, clinging to the rail, also preparing to take her own life. She jumps, and André decides to save her life.
