In 1923, a Korean teenager named Kim Shun-Pei leaves his home on Cheju Island to start a new life in Osaka, Japan. As time passes, he transforms into a ruthless, greedy, and violent individual who builds a factory in his community, exploiting his employees and amassing a fortune. His cruelty extends to his family, with whom he has multiple mistresses and children, showing no regard for anyone's well-being. Eventually, he closes the factory and becomes a loan shark, perpetuating his cycle of hatred until his death in North Korea.
