Stefano Torino, a Gypsy man, is forced into a marriage with Annie Caldash, a young Gypsy woman from Chicago, by his brother Marco. Despite initial reluctance, Stefano agrees to the union, but Annie reveals she had no intention of marrying him and plans to flee after receiving the agreed-upon payment. However, Annie later changes her mind and wants to marry Stefano after all. He leaves, but returns and is prompted to reevaluate his decision after Annie requests a divorce.
